Well, only if you don't plan on seeing Alice in Wonderland. As soon as I heard the movie was coming out, I was super hyped. I couldn't wait to watch the story I grew up with --- nevermind. I didn't. I can't lie. I've never been a huge fan of the Alice story(s) and only liked part of the Disney (was it Disney?) animated one. I liked the cat. He had a nice smile. BUT... while I'm not a fan of Alice and her perilous adventures in Wonderland... I AM a fan of Tim Burton (who else was pissed when they got old enough to realize he didn't direct Nightmare Before Christmas? For me, that age was 24. Last year. Just a few months ago. Damn the man.) I enjoy all of his endeavors. I enjoy that he works with a familiar bunch of people (Similar to the Apatow crew, but better, because... well, these guys have lots of talent.) I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp (as anyone with a va-j-j is... and also lots without) and have a girl crush on Helena Bonham Carter. I love her as Bellatrix the best, but she's amazing in almost everything else she does. And hells yes, I love the Danny Elfman. Loves him. Did you know he did the music for Desperate Housewives and the Simpsons?? He did. And LOTS of movies. And voicework for video games? He did. He can also sing like a mofo - he did all the vocals for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And he owns a Dachsund! So... where was I?
Oh yeah. I love Tim Burton's crowd. And because of this reason alone (and my overwhelming girl lust for Helena (or He-bo-ca... as I call her) I have decided to spend my money on seeing Alice in Wonderland. I was so set in this decision to see this movie... and it only wavered a few times each time I saw the trailer. Yes, it all looks very cool... but I had no idea how digital it would be. Their heads are so big and cartoony and the background... well, can't complain there... digital BG always looks good (Note to George Lucas - this does not mean it's NECESSARY). It just looks so... hokey. I have NOTHING against digital-ized films, animated films, digitally enhanced films, stylized digital effects, nothing against any of it. I was just under the impression that this would look... different. So, in an effort to make the most of this film, which should TECHNICALLY be an orgasmic on-screen love orgy for me (Come on! J-Depp in a role he was born to do (just like his other roles), He-bo-ca (with big digital boobs and in red, which is my favorite color on her), Tim (who's pretty much pure genius), Danny (who strikes a chord with his music that makes my knees weak), and ALAN RICKMAN (my favorite wizarding-world lover, ever) as the Caterpillar... I may have to bring a change of undies) I plan on seeing it in 3-D. Yes, paying $45 a ticket will be worth it, I hope.
Or I'll have Tim Burton's head on a stick. (In my bedroom for safe keeping.)
